'Gullak' (Children's Bank) - In Kilkari there is a Bachcha Bank for children. This bank has been opened with the aim of teaching the children – habit of saving, the correct use of money and its proper management. This is miniature form of bank called ‘Gullak’. Its total management is done by children. For proper working of this bank a Committee of children has been formed which looks after the banks working and management.
The children enrolled in Kilkari can become a member of ‘Gullak’. An account can be opened with the minimum of ten rupees. Children can deposit or withdraw Re 1/- at least. At the end of the financial year 6% annual interest is given on the deposit amount by ‘Gullak’. At the end of the financial year Rs. 75/- is given as encouragement on the balance of Rs.500/- or more. If the child reaches sixteen years or more then his/her account is transferred from Kilkari to a government bank. After every three months ‘Gullak’ gives the award of ‘Best Account Holder’ also.
Library - Kilkari has a big library for children. In this library there are thousands of books available for children of different age groups. Here apart from reading books children participate in storytelling, recitation of popular and favourite poems, new jokes, riddles and picture making. Here the children also get benefitted by reading the daily newspapers. Here there are visual collection of songs, stories and cartoons, for the children, which are exhibited every month. To increase the interest towards books in children every month award of ‘Best Reader’ is given.
Mobile Library - For those children who are deprived of books, Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhawan runs a mobile library. A decorated van takes books to schools and slums. This library has books on various subjects like poems, stories, jokes, child newspapers etc. In the mobile library the coordinator and driver organize various interesting activities with the groups of children. This gives the children an environment which develops a desire for education.
Children Counseling - Children have their own problems which are manifested through behaviors like tension and anger. Keeping this in view the children are given counseling by an expert to eradicate these problems. The children become aware of positive behavior through their advices and solutions. They also become able to face the day to day problems. Counseling starts with the enrolment of a child.
